The UN General Assembly has declared 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists. This milestone, achieved with partners and the IYRP2026 Initiative, highlights the importance of cultural landscapes and pastoralism in biodiversity conservation and community wellbeing, driving continued efforts toward global collaboration and support.
We are very honoured as the United Nations General Assembly declared 2026 the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists! It is a shared pleasure together with our partners in this journey, who played a significant role in collaboration with the IYRP2026 Initiative in bringing this success for cultural landscapes and practices.
We’ll keep amplifying our efforts in scaling up the cultural landscapes approach towards 2026 in collaboration with the IYRP Initiative for a world where rangelands and pastoralism contribute effectively to conserving biodiversity and maintaining the wellbeing of communities with the support of all involved governments, UN bodies and other supporting organisations.
