Satoyama Initiative targets complex rural ecosystems like the Japanese Satoyama Landscape, balancing biodiversity conservation with sustainable resource utilisation. They promote collaboration among stakeholders and knowledge-sharing to develop a vision for sustainable land management and to conserve traditional practices in these landscapes.
The International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) was established on 19 October 2010, during the 10th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 10) held in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. As an international platform open to organisations working towards realising “societies in harmony with nature” through landscape approaches to biodiversity conservation and human well-being.”
As Yolda, we are honoured to be part of this invaluable network of multi-sectoral and international organisations working to support and promote the harmony with nature and diverse cultures and local communities for enhancing biodiversity and sustainable use of natural resources.
