Our project, “A Retro-Innovative Perspective for Sustainable Economies: Mobile Pastoralism,” continues with an exciting workshop bringing together Sarıkeçili nomadic pastoralists, researchers, development specialists, cooperatives, chefs, and textile designers. Together, we will explore the economic potential of mobile pastoralism, focusing on products like meat, dairy, wool, and cosmetics, while promoting environmental sustainability.
Our project titled “A retro-innovative perspective for sustainable economies: Mobile Pastoralism”, which we have been carrying out as Yolda Initiative, Sarıkeçililer Survival and Solidarity Association and Innovation for Development team continues with the workshop we have been working on for a long time.
Within the workshop, we will come together with Sarıkeçili nomadic pastoralists, researchers, development specialists, purchasing specialists, cooperatives, culinary chefs, cosmetics producers, weaving masters, and textile designers and producers in order to understand the economic aspects of mobile pastoralism and to develop a sustainable economic model that is caring to the environment, biodiversity and climate.
We are very excited to come up with new ideas by identifying the opportunities and obstacles in the field with participants from different communities and sectors during the two days in the workshop, where we will examine the various products of mobile pastoralism on topics such as meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, hair and wool products and cosmetics through the example of Sarıkeçili nomadic pastoralists.
We would like to thank Narköy, who will host our workshop, for opening their doors to us and for all their support.
Stay tuned for news and outputs from the workshop to be held on November 2-3!
