Experts from various fields explored mobile pastoralism’s economic potential, discussing meat, dairy, cosmetics, and wool products, and developing sustainable, nature- and climate-friendly models. Thank you to all the participants!
After two full days of enjoyment, we have completed our “Sustainable Economic Model for Mobile Pastoralism” workshop!
Organised in collaboration with Yolda Initiative, Sarıkeçililer Survival and Solidarity Association and Innovation for Development (I4D), our workshop was held in Narköy on 2-3 November 2021.
We came together with leading researchers, social entrepreneurs, development experts, procurement experts, cooperatives, gastronomy chefs, cosmetic producers, weaving masters, and textile designers and producers to discuss mobile pastoralism from an economic perspective and develop a sustainable economic model that is nature and climate-friendly.
During the workshop, which progressed through workshops and round table discussions in four thematic areas: ‘meat and meat products’, ‘milk and dairy products’, ‘cosmetics and aromatherapy’ and ‘hair and wool products’, we discussed the economic potentials, problems and possible product development strategies of mobile pastoralism.
We would like to sincerely thank all our participants for joining us and suggesting strategies for the continuation of mobile pastoralism in its traditional, and therefore, sustainable form.
